Polzeath: a buzzing seaside village

Set on the stunning North Cornwall coastline, the expansive beach is heaven for holidaymakers and surfers. With a range of exciting water sports, family activities and well-known restaurants nearby, it’s the perfect spot for a Cornish staycation.

Friendly and fun, Polzeath is a lovely destination for young families. With seasonal RNLI lifeguard cover, you’ll find the calm shallows are ideal for bodyboarding. If your younger adventurers love paddling and exploration, head to the little stream in the middle of the beach and the rock pools nearby. With mini golf, trampolines and a bouncy castle in the heart of Polzeath, you’ll never run out of ways to keep the kids entertained.

For the adults

There’s also a wealth of grown up fun to be had in and around Polzeath. With over thirty rums, live music and reggae roasts, Surf Side’s local Rum Bar makes for a unique and laid back evening. If you’re looking for some recuperation after one too many cocktails, the St Moritz Hotel Spa provides an abundance of luxurious pampering.

For even more indulgence, head to the Dining Room in Rock or jump on the ferry from Rock to Padstow and sample the region’s award-winning food. Just along the coast, you’ll also find the incredible two Michelin-starred Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Port Isaac. If you’ve over indulged, burn off some energy with a round of golf at The Point in Polzeath or St Enodoc Golf Club in Rock.

Polzeath is one of the best beaches in the country to learn to surf. Offering a range of bespoke private lessons, George’s Surf School will help you achieve your surfing dreams. If you’d like to give sailing or water-skiing a go, nearby Rock is the perfect location. For the adventurous types, Cornish Rock Tors offer sea kayaking, wild swimming and coasteering, all of which provide a fantastic opportunity to explore the rugged Cornish coastline.

If you’d rather sit back and enjoy the surrounding wildlife, you can’t beat the Wavehunters sea safaris and boat trips. Or fancy something a bit more laid back? Then try your hand at stand up paddle boarding with Camel Ski School, who even host relaxing “Paddle and Prosecco” evenings throughout the summer.
