Recommendations for St Merryn
St Merryn sits two miles outside of Padstow’s bustling harbour. If you’re travelling by car, it takes approximately 10 minutes, or there’s a direct bus route running between the two locations, perfect for day trips or those looking to enjoy a tipple or two over brunch. For those who wish to explore the area on foot, take to the South West Coast Path and enjoy spectacular sea views on your way into town.
With a small but mighty food scene, St Merryn is home to traditional pubs, seafood restaurants and tapas bars. Whether you’re looking for a romantic spot for two or a place for the whole family, find the perfect backdrop for your evening in this quaint coastal village.
Some of our favourites include Duchy Grubb, Salt and Samphire and the family-friendly Rick Stein’s Cornish Arms. With a large outside seating area, children will love playing on the lawn before dinner arrives.
St Merryn is bordered by seven show-stopping bays meaning you are no more than a 10minute drive away from sandy shores, gentle waters, and great surfing conditions.
The closest to the village is Harlyn Bay. Dog-friendly all year round, this spacious golden beach is popular with families and is suitable for novice surfers thanks to its sheltered position. With food outlets located in the car park, grab a coffee and set off along the coast path to explore the neighbouring Seven Bays, including Treyarnon and Constantine Bay.
Located just outside of the village, thrill-seekers will love Tide’s indoor climbing centre – catering for all ages, it’s a great option when rainy days are forecast.
Open all year round, Camel Creek adventure park is an all-weather attraction with plenty to do for children of all ages. Head to the indoor playhouse for hours of fun before taking on rollercoasters and water slides.
On good weather days, head to Harlyn Bay and explore the area from the water. With paddleboards and kayaks available to hire from Harlyn Surf School during the summer, set off on your guided tour of hidden coves and secret beaches.
