The 140 acre Holt Farm Estate is located just outside the village of Witham Friary in North East Somerset amongst beautiful rolling countryside. There are two stunning large and one large farmhouse to rent individually or all together.

Having just undergone extensive restoration and tasteful modernisation, including a number of renewable energy installations, Holt Farm Estate is now a truly exclusive retreat with luxury accommodation. It is a working farm with its own woodlands, lake, duck pond and some lovely walks around the fields.

There are three beautiful, luxury holiday homes that are avaliable to rent either individually or collectively. They are:

Holt Farmhouse (sleeps 9-10)
The Old Barn (sleeps 8)
The Calf House (sleeps 6)

Shoot Barn

There is also a long barn that can be rented in addition to a house or all of the houses for special occasions. Great for suprise birthdays and wedding receptions.

The Holt Farm Estate is made up of 140 acres of fields of lovely Somerset countryside and it also includes a lake and its own woodlands. This is a working farm but you are welcome to walk along the estate where marked. Children must be accompanied and dogs must be on a leash.

Duck Pond

Just below Holt Farmhouse there is a fenced in duck pond with its own resident ducks!

Lake

If you venture up across the fields then you will come across a lake that regularly is populated by quite a number of ducks. This area is fenced in but you are welcome to take a picnic and sit in this extremelly peaceful area. Sometimes you may also see some of the fish that live in the lake.

Woodlands

Take a stroll up the track and take the marked paths through the woodlands. There are all sorts of trees, animals and flowers in the woodlands and sometimes some of the wild deer will graze here. We will ask you to be careful at some times of the year not to disturb nesting birds.

Fields

Feel free to enjoy the space and freemdom of our fields and walk up to the Old Bothy which the owners will probably refurbish in the future.

Note: If you have adventurous children then they must keep away from the farm buildings to the rear of The Old Barn and The Calf House. As this is a working farm, there is farm machinery, slurry pits and other hazards associated with farms. There is also a stream running through the bottom of the valley which can get very fast after rainfall so we recomend that children are always supervised.

The Basics

  • Sleeps: 6-24 (Across 3 properties that are next door or opposite each other. The Calf House - 6, The Old Barn - 8, Holt Farmhouse - 9-10.
  • Bed Linen: High quality linen supplied and changed weekly
  • Towels: Each guest has a hand towel & bath sheet.
  • Housekeeping: For week long bookings, a mid occupancy clean is carried out. (normally Mondays)
  • Pet Friendly: By arrangement. Additional charges are made for all pets, certain dog breeds not permitted.

We stayed over the Easter weekend. Though it was much better weather we still couldn't go out everyday and this gave us an opportunity to explore and enjoy the farmhouse and scenery.The property is immaculate with attention to detail to everything. Its located in a very quiet setting with great views from the living room, and the two hill facing bedrooms. The interiors are all done in a very high taste. The bedrooms are very comfortable with a lot of fresh linen. There is a nice farm with lamas, sheep and roosters that shares its boundary with the farmhouse. It's a great attraction for the kids. There are a few fascinating trails along the road and over the streams and hills. I'd recommend it unreservedly to anyone traveling to somerset bearing in mind that it's not close to any of the motorways and thats what makes it exclusive. Many thanks.
