The ground floor of Home Farm is accessible via, what used to be, the original galley kitchen; a large, welcoming entrance hall with cool grey flagstone flooring and inviting fuchsia feature wall. Alternatively, enter via the two sets of large French doors that open out directly onto the flourishing garden terrace from the vast open kitchen.
The superb open plan kitchen and dining room is absolutely the focal interior point of this wonderful home. Featuring grey flagstone slate flooring and stretching grey granite worktops, this beautiful kitchen has been custom handmade for this property, and features contemporary accents contrasted with traditional French and English pieces. Although part of the recent renovation, the kitchen maintains the cottage’s traditional charm with solid pine ceiling beams.
Throw open the double French doors to enjoy a semi-alfresco dinner around the large modern dining table and six contemporary Philippe Starck dining chairs.
A 16″ Bush HD television, with Freesat TV and DVD player, provide light entertainment whilst preparing meals, as well as enabling MP3 and Smartphone compatibility to allow you to set the ambience of the room with your own music through the B&W speakers.
The well-equipped kitchen consists of an impressive Eurokera ceramic glass electric hob and electric Aga conventional cooker, Siemens Dishwasher, Siemens combination microwave, integrated Siemens refrigerator and freezer and Delonghi 4 slice toaster.
A freshly drilled borehole taps in to natural water supplies and provides some of the purest water straight to Home Farm; rich in minerals and free of chemicals such as fluoride and chlorine.
This cosy living room is an absolute treat. A large Stuv wood burning stove will keep the chill away in the cooler months while you curl up on the two three-seater sofas; whilst the solid wood window seat offers beautiful views across the blooming garden through traditional sash window.
Features of this room include a 26” flat screen Panasonic television with Blu-ray DVD player, as well as a selection of DVDs and board games. A large, airy porch leads directly out to an idyllic sunbathing area with two sun loungers.
Directly next door to the living room is the snug, where guests can relax with a good read, or listen to their own music on the B&W iPod docking station. A wall of books and stack of magazines will provide hours of perfect solitude, whilst the solid wood window seat below traditional sash window invites a pleasant view.
The impressive little study features a grand, traditional open fireplace, complete with original clome oven and elegant writing desk.
Leading through from the study is a bright, and well equipped, utility room which caters for all of your laundry and housekeeping needs. Facilities include a Siemens washing machine and Siemens tumble dryer. A good sized downstairs cloakroom with all white goods leads through from the utility.
A staircase with a deep window bay offers wonderful views of the rolling landscape and fields to the rear of the house, where you may spot the friendly neighbouring horses.
Master Bedroom with En-suite
A large and inviting master bedroom, with a sumptuous super king bed, offers the most spectacular views of the well-established garden, as well as far-reaching views of lush green fields and woodlands. The interior design of the three bedrooms is inspired by the beautiful surroundings of Home Farm. All of the bedrooms within Home Farm have a set of plump eiderdown pillows and hypoallergenic pillows, as well as luxury silk duvets that are lightweight during the summer and cosy in the winter.
A large three door, solid pine wardrobe, providing ample storage space, sits proudly adjacent to the traditional sash windows.
The en-suite for the master bedroom is simply stunning; featuring a grand walk-in thermostatic shower with smooth beach pebble floor, Cotswold chrome heated towel rail, contemporary wall hung sink and WC.
The master bedroom also boasts its own private entrance hall-cum-dressing room, complete with antique-style dresser and plush French-inspired arm chair.
Bedroom Two with En-suite
This is a wonderful second bedroom with views over the iconic gardens via a deep sash window. Two 2ft by 6ft zip and link beds enable this room to be a twin room or king double. Accented with elegant blue hues and with its own en-suite bathroom with thermostatic walk-in shower and Cotswold chrome heated towel rail, this bedroom certainly gives the master bedroom a run for its money.
Another sizeable bedroom, this third bedroom also shares the same fantastic views of the winding gardens as both the master bedroom and bedroom two. Nicknamed ‘The Green Room’, the foliage-inspired interior really does reflect the natural tranquillity of the garden and is a soothing and calming place to rest your head.
Two 2ft by 6ft zip and link beds provide versatility within this room and can be made up as a twin or king double. With the master bedroom and bedroom two having their own en-suites, bedroom three effectively has the family bathroom all to itself.
A place of pure indulgence and pampering, take a long and well-deserved soak in the large freestanding bath tub. The family bathroom is bright and airy, fitted with an all-white suite and Cotswold chrome heated towel rail.
The surrounding gardens and extended exterior of this unique holiday home really are the most impressive aspect of Home Farm. Punctuated with antique garden machinery, exquisite lawns and floral displays, 100 acres of land just begging to be explored, and a wild orchard and tennis court just down the way.
The double French doors of the kitchen open fully onto a beautiful terrace and BBQ area, whilst a large wooden table equipped with Lazy Susan allows for alfresco dining on balmy summer evenings beneath the honeysuckle and roses.
Wandering through the meandering garden path, you’ll stroll through burgeoning blooms of foxgloves, lavender, roses and rhododendrons; archways of pleached lime trees and fragrant eucalyptus – a veritable jubilation of nature.
Wrapping around to the rear of Home Farm, you’ll find a second sun terrace, perfect for a quiet evening drink; a charming built up stone lily pad pond and friendly neighbouring horses whinnying in the field opposite.
The exterior entrance to Home Farm is accessible via electronic gate into a spacious courtyard, which provides ample parking space for 4 cars.
A large barn conversion is home to your very own cinema room, equipped with full Panasonic Home Cinema system, surround sound and Panasonic Kelton subwoofer; Blu-ray DVD player and iPod dock, Alba Freeview and Nintendo Wii – all on a mammoth 124” dropdown Sapphire cinema screen.
Plush red sofas and armchairs provide the perfect recline for film viewing, whilst a tall Siemens refrigerator and freezer ensure that you’ll never be too far from a quick snack and ice cold beverage. This is a fantastic room for teenagers and the young at heart to escape to.
Home Farm is located on the lush 100 acres of the Whitehay Estate in the Ruthern Valley, along with its sister property The Watermill.
