For those that love sea views!

Three words sums up the beautiful and quirky Porth Enys House in Mousehole and that is; Location, Spectacular & Unique! It is set in its own 20 acres, with a 1/3 mile of its own private shore line (no beach) and probably one of the finest views in the country. The view spans from Mousehole across to Mounts Bay, St Michaels Mount and down to The Lizard. If you love sea views and watching the world sail by then this will be your dream house.

From virtually every room in this beautiful quirky house you can see the sea and even from every bed in the house, you can just look out to sea. This is a unique property and its the first time that it has ever been avaliable as a holiday home rental.

Porth Enys House is a large house over three levels and it is well equipped for modern living with a TV room with home cinema system, wireless broadband and Sky television.

Mousehole, the very popular and beautiful Cornish fishing village is just a walk down the hill where you can walk around the harbour and explore its heritage or dine at some of the great restaurants and pubs. Where ever you go, you can look out to sea and look across to the iconic St Michaels Mount.

Within a short drive there are many things to do and see and beach lovers will be impressed with Porthcurno beach, Sennen Cove and Porth Chapel beach.

Just wanted to drop you a line to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Porth Enys House.  It totally lived up to the hype – the views are exceptional.   We will definitely be returning! We will be in touch again later this year to look at dates.

Upon opening the front door of Porth Enys House, you enter the main hallway with its wooden floor, antique desk and funky mirror. But, your eyes instantly focus on the incredible sea view that you can see through the lounge to your left and that’s where you tend to walk straight to!

Lounge

As you would expect with these awesome sea views, the whole room points to the large windows so you can just sit and take in the ever changing moods of the sea and the marine craft that sail by. There is a mixture of antique cupboard and tables to the rear of the room and there is also a single chair, twin settee and three seat sette leather seats in a shade of yellow colour. On winter nights there is wood burner that can be lit and the logs are provided as part of the rental. To help take in the stunning views, there is also a set of antique style binoculars on a stand that can help you see for a fair few miles!

Conservatory

The conservatory houses is really the dining room and it is probably the most used room in the house. Again you have the most incredible outlook onto the sea and there is two cream leather chairs and a twin settee for you to sit and take in the view. The dining table is a lovely large solid wood table with a mix of cream and black leather high back chairs. Hanging over the table is a double ornamental metal light fitting. You can access the gardens via two of the glass conservatory doors.

Kitchen

Cooking with a view! The kitchen units are a mix of stylish cream coloured laminate and stainless steel doors. There is a huge amount of storage in this kitchen as the units flow around the corner up to the entrance of the conservatory. Appliances include; 1.5 double oven, ceramic hob, stainless steel extractor, dishwasher, two microwaves, intergrated freezer, integrated double fridge and a free standing double fridge. For those that like to cook and watch televsion, there is also a flatsreen television in the kitchen and to increase the already light kitchen, there is a small square glass ceiling that looks up to the 1st floor balcony.

Television/Cinema Room

Porth Enys House has a serious home cinema system with a 10ft screen, B&W speakers x 7.1, Denon DVD player, Yahama amps and ceiling mounted projector. In addition to that it has a great Sky television package that includes Sky Sports and Sky Movies. You can also play your iPOD through the surround system for a real wired to sound effect! The seating includes three black leather chairs and a two seater leather settee. Just outside the television room is a sonic football table.

Study

If you need to catch up on a bit of work or if you have children that are studying, then the office is equipped with two office desks to work from.

Cloakroom

Just off the main hall there is a cloakroom with WC and the most intresting carved stone sink.

Walking up the stairs from the ground floor hall, you turn left into the master bedroom.

Master Bedroom with En-suite & Walk in Dressing Room

All the bedrooms at Porth Enys House have sea views where you can lie in bed and look out to sea. This bedroom is the same and it has two large patio doors to look out of. The LH patio door opens out onto the 1st floor balcony area. The bedroom is a really good size and well equipped for luxury with an excellent 6ft bed, two bedside cabinets, chaise longe, pieces of occassional furniture and a convex wall mirror. There is also a flat screen wall mounted television with Freeview television.
The en-suite shower room is excellent with a large walk in shower enclosure, fitted white vanity units with designer white china sink, mirrored wall units, mirror and a WC.
Walk in dressing room – This is a great feature of the master bedroom as there is a long room which has been racked out to store and hang clothes. There is also a dressing table area and a wine cooler for those champagne nights!

First Floor Balcony

From the hallway, you can also access the glass fronted balcony area that has a table and two chairs positioned to take in the magnificant sea views.

Bedroom Two – En-suite Shower Room

Another bedroom and another stunning sea view from your bed! The bed is a handy zip and link so you can either have two 3ft beds or a superking bed. The bedroom is furnished with two bedside cabinets, tall 6 drawer units with 3 tier mirror, triple sliding mirrored wardrobe all on a maple laminate floor. The en-suite has white sanitary ware with a corner shower cubicle, WC, vanity units with inset whit vanity basin and a feature wall hung mirror.

Bedroom Three – En-suite Shower Room

This is the smaller of all the bedrooms but it still has magnificent sea views. The bed set up is two single 3ft beds an dthere is also a bedside cabinet, six drawer storage unit and corner triple wardrobe. The en-suite contains a corner shower cubicle, WC, towel rail, long wall mirror and a vanity sink unit with feature white bowl.

Bedroom Four – En-suite Cloakroom & Balcony

This bedroom probably has the best sea view of all the bedrooms purely as it is higher up and the glass windows and French doors at the sea end of the room are the dominant feature. The French doors open out onto  a small balcony where you can watch the world sail by or lie in bed and do the same! The bed is king size and it is cleverly pushed forward so that it maximises the view with a dwarf wall that divides up the bedroom from the dressing room area. The dressing room area has a tall dressing table, corner fitted wardrobes and feature decorative lights. The en-suite has a WC and fitted vanity unit with a granite top and inset sinks. Opposite this room is the main bathroom.

Main Bathroom

The main bathroom is very large and is beautifully finished and has an oak floor. There is a large designer bath with side floor mounted taps and shower attachment. The walk in shower is a shower with a view as you can see the sea through the Velux window! At the far end of the bathroom there is a chaise longe and a few glass topped tables and a glass vanity style unit. The WC and stylish glass wall hung sink is in a side part of the bathroom but when washing your hands, you can look out to the sea!

Porth Enys House sits in an elevated position within it’s own 20 acres and it also has its own 1/3 mile shoreline although there is no beach or shoreline to walk on. For many years Porth Enys House estate was a major flower provider in the UK which ceased in the 1960′s when Holland started exporting their flowers very competitivelly. The owners today still allows just a few local people to use the small parts of the land for various small projects including a small vineyard, potter and vegetable grower although you probably won’t see them and you may not find where they work either!

Landscape

The incredible 20 acres of land runs from right to left of the house and down the hill to the sea edge. There are many paths that lead across and down to the sea boundary which takes you into mini woodlands, small fields, meadows, sheltered parcels of land and more. Walking these path is truly amazing as there are many places to sit and look out at the sea. You may catch a glimpse of a few of the local deer population.

Shoreline

Through the network of paths you can see the sea from just about where ever you are within the 20 acres. There is no beach or area where you can walk alongside the sea except in one area where, at your own risk, you access some of the flat rocks right on the sea. This is tidal and the currents are quite strong and only for people good on their feet and not less abled people or young children. This area is to be avoided unless the sea is flat and the rocks are dry.

Porth Enys House is set within it’s own 20 acres and it also has its own 1/3 mile shoreline although there is no beach or shoreline to walk on. See Estate plan for more details.

Immediately outside Porth Enys House there is:

Laundry Building

There is a detached building outside that houses the washing machine, tumble drier, ironing board, iron and the storage for seat covers for garden furniture. There is also a pool table in this building for guests use.

Greenhouse

The greenhouse is quite large and the house gardener grows a number of things including oranges! Guests are welcome to use whatever vegetables or fruit are growing if it’s ripe.

Rear Deck & Outside WC

To the back of the property there is a small deck area that still has great sea views and is somewhere to chill out and relax. Just off the deck there is also an external WC.

Garden

Just about everywhere in the immediate garden has stunning sea views! There are lawned areas that are raised in different parts by small stone walls. One of the best places to sit is on the flat area by the flag pole where you can watch the ships sail by whilst protected from any wind by the glass sreens. Located within the garden are a number statues, sculptures and creative works including a metal tree, various animals and a grantite ball.

Large Pond

To the right of the garden there is a large pond which is there for ornamental reasons only. There is no screening or fencing around this pond so any guests with young children will need to supervise any young children at all times.

Parking

There is ample of parking at Port Enys House and you could easily fit six or seven cars on the drive.

The Lookout is a separate building beneath the sun terrace which has been engineered to maximise the incredible sea view from the bed, balcony or both! To access The Lookout, you just walk from the conservatory, down a few steps and around to your right.

This lovely building also has a good sized en-suite as well as a dressing area. The king bed also has a flatscreen that is cleverly mounted within the end of the bed that pops up on demand!

If you like sea views and simple peace and quiet, you’ll want to make sure that you win the arguments to secure The Lookout!

There is a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities in The Lookout with a supply of tea, coffee and sugar, so that you can enjoying a relaxing morning drink on the balcony before heading up to the house!

Just wanted to drop you a line to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Porth Enys House.  It totally lived up to the hype – the views are exceptional.   We will definitely be returning! We will be in touch again later this year to look at dates.

The Milne Family, London

We have recently returned from Porth Enys House, after our christmas stay, and just wanted to drop you a line to thank you and the rest of the team at perfect stays for a wonderful visit.

The house was beautiful, very comfortable and everything was thought of even down to having a box of toys to amuse the children whilst in doors. We would also like to say a special thank you to Lorraine for meeting us and talking us through everything on our arrival.

We will be using yourselves again next time we look at going away.

The Buckley & Murphy Family, Kent

We had a fabulous holiday at Porth Enys house. The location is absolutely incredible, we spent most of the time staring out of the windows! The house has been thoughtfully and well equipped so even during wet weather, we could eat in and enjoy the cinema room and still feel as though we having relaxing time with no compromises. We particularly appreciated the outside space and quirky landscaping, the children had a huge amount of space to enjoy and explore. We were a group whose ages ranged from six years old to seventy and the house and beautiful village of Mousehole ensured we had a truly wonderful holiday. We will return!

The Yoxall Family, Cumbria

I just wanted to thank you for organizing everything to make our stay just so enjoyable. It was our ‘family get together’ holiday with some of the party travelling down from London. This year was extra special being it was our Mum’s 90th Birthday so to be able to bring her somewhere she could just sit and look at the magnificent views was priceless.

We all loved the property, and the location, as you can guess because we had the ‘extra day’ organized by my brother and yourself. It is not easy with so many personalities living under one roof but this property allowed us all to have our own ‘space’ if we wanted it and to come together in the evening to watch a movie and share popcorn! The housekeeper and gardener made us feel so welcome. Also just ‘happening’ to meet the people who use the land just added to the holiday experience. The weather was brilliant only a few showers creating wonderful rainbows some ending in the sea. Oh! The climate was amazing, for this time of the year, making walks in the area just magical and the views breathtaking. We really want to come again and those were the words our Mum used when she walked around outside – so it had to be special!

The Bradley Family, Somerset

It was a big birthday celebration weekend and it was a choice between New York or Mousehole… guess which won!!! New York we decided being far too cold in January. We stayed at Porth Enys House, it was truly magical. The weather was beautiful during the day and stormy at night. Looking out at rough seas while we sat round a wood burning fire drinking Rioja – PERFECT. There were eight in our party and everyone thought the house was fab. The quirkiness made it even better. I must just mention the beds…..sooo comfy! We all decided Cornwall won over New York. Highly Recommended.

The Binmore Party, Devon

Beautiful house surrounded by lovely grounds for the dogs to explore then cool off afterwards in the pond.  Great time was had by all and yes, it was a  ‘Perfect Stay’

The Newman Family, London

We had a lovely stay at Porth Enys, it’s a beautiful house and very well appointed. Mousehole is a delightful town and well served by it’s pubs and restaurants. We had excellent meals at the Cornish Range, 2 Fore Street, the Coastguard and the pub on the harbour. Thank you so much.

Parish Party, Kent

Hello all at Perfect Stays …

Well, it is proving very difficult to concentrate at work today, wishing I was back in Cornwall at Porth Enys House!! I would like to thank you from the family for such a wonderful holiday, we were so lucky with the weather, shorts and t-shirts at times – in October!! We all had a superb time, the property is very special as you know. Again, many thanks for a fantastic holiday.
