Porth Enys House sits in an elevated position within it's own 20 acres and it also has its own 1/3 mile shoreline although there is no beach or shoreline to walk on. For many years Porth Enys House estate was a major flower provider in the UK which ceased in the 1960's when Holland started exporting their flowers very competitivelly. The owners today still allows just a few local people to use the small parts of the land for various small projects including a small vineyard, potter and vegetable grower although you probably won't see them and you may not find where they work either!
Landscape
The incredible 20 acres of land runs from right to left of the house and down the hill to the sea edge. There are many paths that lead across and down to the sea boundary which takes you into mini woodlands, small fields, meadows, sheltered parcels of land and more. Walking these path is truly amazing as there are many places to sit and look out at the sea. You may catch a glimpse of a few of the local deer population.
Shoreline
Through the network of paths you can see the sea from just about where ever you are within the 20 acres. There is no beach or area where you can walk alongside the sea except in one area where, at your own risk, you access some of the flat rocks right on the sea. This is tidal and the currents are quite strong and only for people good on their feet and not less abled people or young children. This area is to be avoided unless the sea is flat and the rocks are dry.

Porth Enys House is set within it's own 20 acres and it also has its own 1/3 mile shoreline although there is no beach or shoreline to walk on. See Estate plan for more details.
Immediately outside Porth Enys House there is:
Laundry Building
There is a detached building outside that houses the washing machine, tumble drier, ironing board, iron and the storage for seat covers for garden furniture.
Greenhouse
The greenhouse is quite large and the house gardener grows a number of things including oranges! Guests are welcome to use whatever vegetables or fruit are growing if it's ripe.
Rear Deck & Outside WC
To the back of the property there is a small deck area that still has great sea views and is somewhere to chill out and relax. Just off the deck there is also an external WC.
Garden
Just about everywhere in the immediate garden has stunning sea views! There are lawned areas that are raised in different parts by small stone walls. One of the best places to sit is on the flat area by the flag pole where you can watch the ships sail by whilst protected from any wind by the glass sreens. Located within the garden are a number statues, sculptures and creative works including a metal tree, various animals and a grantite ball.
Large Pond
To the right of the garden there is a large pond which is there for ornamental reasons only. There is no screening or fencing around this pond so any guests with young children will need to supervise any young children at all times.

It was a big birthday celebration weekend and it was a choice between New York or Mousehole... guess which won!!! New York we decided being far too cold in January. We stayed at Porth Enys House, it was truly magical. The weather was beautiful during the day and stormy at night. Looking out at rough seas while we sat round a wood burning fire drinking Rioja - PERFECT. There were eight in our party and everyone thought the house was fab. The quirkiness made it even better. I must just mention the beds.....sooo comfy! We all decided Cornwall won over New York. Highly Recommended.
The Binmore Party, Devon - January 2013
I just wanted to thank you for organizing everything to make our stay just so enjoyable. It was our ‘family get together’ holiday with some of the party travelling down from London. This year was extra special being it was our Mum’s 90th Birthday so to be able to bring her somewhere she could just sit and look at the magnificent views was priceless.
We all loved the property, and the location, as you can guess because we had the ‘extra day’ organized by my brother and yourself. It is not easy with so many personalities living under one roof but this property allowed us all to have our own ‘space’ if we wanted it and to come together in the evening to watch a movie and share popcorn! The housekeeper and gardener made us feel so welcome. Also just ‘happening’ to meet the people who use the land just added to the holiday experience. The weather was brilliant only a few showers creating wonderful rainbows some ending in the sea. Oh! The climate was amazing, for this time of the year, making walks in the area just magical and the views breathtaking. We really want to come again and those were the words our Mum used when she walked around outside - so it had to be special!
The Bradley Family, Somerset - November 2012
We had a fabulous holiday at Porth Enys house. The location is absolutely incredible, we spent most of the time staring out of the windows! The house has been thoughtfully and well equipped so even during wet weather, we could eat in and enjoy the cinema room and still feel as though we having relaxing time with no compromises. We particularly appreciated the outside space and quirky landscaping, the children had a huge amount of space to enjoy and explore. We were a group whose ages ranged from six years old to seventy and the house and beautiful village of Mousehole ensured we had a truly wonderful holiday. We will return!
The Yoxall Family, Cumbria - August 2012
Just wanted to drop you a line to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Porth Enys House. It totally lived up to the hype – the views are exceptional. We will definitely be returning! We will be in touch again later this year to look at dates.
