Between 30th November and 23rd December, Bedruthan will also be opening its doors to the Sugar and Spice Grotto. Transport to the North Pole and help Father Christmas track down the missing pieces of his sleigh. With tickets selling out fast, click here to secure your visit to the charming grotto.

Between 5th – 8th December, Padstow’s Christmas Festival is returning for its twelfth year. Renowned for artisan crafts, glowing fireworks and plenty of flavoursome food and drink, those from all over the South West flock to Padstow for a long weekend by the north coast.

South Devon: get merry in the countryside

Combine your love of seafood and the festive season with The Oyster Shack’s Christmas Market on 30th November. Hot crab soup, saltwater treats and plenty of oysters sound ever so tempting at this time of year. In December, opt for one of The Oyster Shack’s feast nights, where a curry, broth or winter stew will be the perfect soother for brisk winter nights.

Once the big day has passed, resist the post-Christmas Day blues with a festive yuletide stretch and yoga class at the Hen House in Kingsbridge. Taking place on 28th December, spend an hour remedying the festive feasting with a much needed stretch in the middle of rolling countryside.

A short distance away sits the idyllic Waterside in Salcombe, which is available this Christmas and New Year. Retreat to the cosy living area, sip eggnog and feel the flush of the crackling wood burner as it warms you from head to toe.

With a couple of our west coast homes still available for the Christmas week, return to Porth Enys House for cosy films in the cinema room or embrace the nip in the air with a mince pie and hot chocolate on Bodillian’s sea-view balcony. For a mid-December escape, choose the nautical and magnificent Shun Lee, perfect for large groups.
