Stylishly furnished and equipped to a superb standard, Harebell is the perfect place to unwind with family and friends - at any time of year.

This welcoming cottage is set in an elevated position above a beautiful secret valley, where a short stroll alongside the beck leads to the breathtaking Sandsend beach. For larger groups, Harebell can be booked together with its neighbour Foxglove, which sleeps four to six.

One of just nine cottages on The Valley, an exclusive, award-winning new development, Harebell combines the benefits of a brand new home with a traditional style – and truly has everything you need for your perfect stay.

Downstairs, the spacious, social open plan kitchen, dining and living area features a wood-burner and opens onto a private, south-facing terrace. Upstairs, the bedrooms and bathrooms are spread over two floors, with the whole top floor given over to a stunning, vast master suite. Outside, there’s also a lawned private garden, plus an extensive shared green space.

Venture out by day and you’ll find the local area is relaxed, but far from sleepy. There’s so much to do – take exhilarating coastal or countryside walks, surf at Sandsend beach, play a round of golf with a dramatic North Sea backdrop or take a sea fishing trip. At night, stay in and barbecue your fresh catch, pop out to one of the local village pubs or excellent restaurants – or indulge in some fish & chips eaten from their paper in Whitby!

Our inclusive concierge team and holiday planners will be able to help you book anything that you want to do during your perfect stay.

  • Coastal Crusies

Explore the Yorkshire coast from the sea on a boat cruise. Trips include a visit to the picturesque fishing village of Staithes, a river cruise, sunset cruises and whale watching!

Ask our concierge team for more details.

  • Cycling

If it’s a gentle cycle or extreme mountain biking in the woods, you can do it all in North Yorkshire. Locally there is the moor to sea cycle route which covers 80 miles and offers something for everyone. If you don’t bring your bike with you, don’t worry as you can hire them on the trail.

The Mulgrave Estate shoot for pheasant and partridge is very popular and occurs during September until the end of January. With 5500 acres of estate, 30 drives and 200 acres of cover crops, Mulgrave is an excellent shoot and probably one of the best in the UK.

  • Steam Train

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway provides some 18 miles of preserved steam railway running through the spectacular scenery of the North Yorkshire Moors. Magnificent steam engines and beautiful rural stations, a visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a must!

  • Surfing

You can surf on parts of Sandsend beach although we recommend to only surf in lifeguard patrolled areas (seasonal) if you are a novice. Within the village there is also a surf school who can teach you to surf as well as hire you boards and wetsuits.

  • Walking

Within the local area there are a lot of walks. If you fancy coastal walks then just walk to Sandsend beach and walk to Whitby or go North to Kettleness. If woodland walks are your thing then walk up and around Mulgrave Estate Woodland. For more varied walks, pop up to the North York moors.

  • Whitby Abbey

Set on the headland overlooking Whitby and the North Sea, the gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey are a must see! The Abbey was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula and still offers one of the most atmospheric visitor attractions on the Yorkshire coast.

Concierge Services

We provide an inclusive concierge service to all our guests staying at any of our luxury holiday homes. Just think of all that time that we can save you making dinner reservations, organising a chef, booking the kids in for surf lessons, or we can just be a resource for the lowdown on everything local!

There is no additional charge for this telephone concierge service and we do not mark up any services that we procure for you. It's our most highly rated and talked about service and if you want us to help organise anything for your stay, just call us for more information.

Additional Housekeeping

We can offer a whole range of additional housekeeper services to suit you and your individual requirements. If you are looking for daily or regular housekeeping during your stay, or perhaps more frequent linen and towel changes, then this can normally be provided by our housekeeping partners.

There will be a local service charge to pay to the housekeeping company although our concierge team can organise this for you. n.b. Some housekeeping companies do not always work on Sundays and have a minimum service time.

Babysitting

Babysitting or childcare can be a very important part of a stay, particularly if you want to go to perhaps a great fine dining restaurant or maybe spend the day on non child friendly activities.

We have access to a number of childcare professionals or local babysitters that are close to all our properties. n.b. Due to insurance reasons, we only pass on names and numbers and leave you to make the final decision on who to employ.

Boat Trips

Whether its a private boat charter to enjoy a relaxing afternoon exploring the coastline, a day out at sea to catch some big fish for your tea, or a high speed ride on a rib searching for wildlife, we can arrange it for you!

Private group trips are available and trips range from 2 hours to full days. Ask our concierge team for more details.

Chef Prepared Dinners

Chef Prepared Dinners is a very flexible bespoke food service. The way that it works is that you discuss what food you would like with one of our partner chefs, they prepare it and then deliver it to you on the agreed day, together with cooking instruction!

All you have to do is turn on the cooker for items that need cooking, follow a few simple instructions and then hey presto, a gourmet banquet is on the table! As well as gourmet food, you can also order simple homemade dishes as well. Limited availability so always book early.

Dog Sitting

If you are taking the treasured family pet on holiday with you to one of our dog friendly properties and if you go somewhere that does not permit dogs, we can provide someone who can keep your dog company!

In addition to sitting with them, they can sometimes also take them out for a few extra walks as well as make a fuss of them until your return. For more details, talk to our concierge team.

Fresh Flowers

If you are looking to have a range of flowers either delivered in advance or during your stay then this can be arranged. From bouquets for special occasions to hand tied flowers in every room, we can organise this with our local service partners.

Flowers generally make people happy and the gift of flowers can brighten up anyone’s day. Call our concierge team for more details.

Grocery Shopping

To save all the bother and important car space, we can normally arrange for your groceries to be delivered and packed away in the fridge, freezer and cupboards before your arrival.* This is a great way to start your stay and avoids the big shop on arrival and all that un-necessary time!

There is normally a small local service charge for this service although it always works best if we use one of our local grocery shop partners. *National supermarket deliveries normally need to be delivered after your arrival unless agreed in advance with our local services company.

Massage and Beauty

If you would like to visit a spa during your stay we can recommend the best local spa to visit and book treatments for you. If you would like a massage, facial or manicure in the privacy of a Perfect Stays holiday home, then we can get the masseuse/therapist to come to you. Our trained and professional service partners bring everything that is required to help you unwind and de-stress.

The therapists can normally offer a variation of different massages, a range of facial treatments, manicures and pedicures. Call our concierge team for more details.

Private Chef Service

Would you like a professional chef to come and cook during your stay for a one-off special occasion? Maybe for a few nights, or even the whole week? Does the thought of having a delicious gourmet experience during your stay where the menu is designed to your exacting requirements strongly appeal?

We work with a small number of highly experienced chefs that can provide food to the very highest standards and in addition to preparing and serving gastronomic delights, they also clean and wash up afterwards! This is our most popular in-house service, we recommend booking early to prevent any disappointment.

Thank you to everyone at Perfect Stays for making our visit to Sandsend so comfortable. We took away with us some very happy memories. Our visit was for a significant birthday and our stay at Harebell made it very special. I know I can speak for us as a family of five adults who stayed at Harebell and say that we enjoyed our time there very much.

The house was extremely comfortable and very well-equipped. I can say that without exception we are all looking forward to a return visit next year.

The Davies Family, Leeds

We stayed at Harebell for Spring Bank Week and found the cottage as impressive as the pictures on the website. It was well equipped and had everything we needed. We would definitely return and would recommend to others.

The Drinkwaters, West Yorkshire

I used to visit the Sandsend and Whitby area of the Yorkshire coast as a boy, but haven’t been there for many years. Harebell was a beautiful property, and was without a doubt the best self-catering accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. Fortunately the weather was fabulous for our stay which meant we could enjoy Sandsend beach just down the road, and we look forward to returning soon.

The Goddards, Derbyshire

We had a wonderful stay at Harebell – it was the perfect place to spend Christmas.  We spent Christmas day on the beach flying kites and then had a lovely dinner at the Estbek. Sandsend is a great location with lovely cafes and the gallery and nice shops.  Close enough to Whitby but far enough away to enjoy a more relaxing time.

The house is wonderful, really well decorated and very comfortable. I am very impressed with the quality of accommodation listed on Perfect Stays and we will certainly book through you again.

The Sutherlands, Leicestershire

My husband and I were absolutely amazed at the quality of all the fittings and fixtures in the cottage. Everything was first class, including the cleaning. Many thanks for a wonderful stay.

The Hills, Sheffield

It was our second week in Sandsend in six months – this time at Harebell instead of Foxglove, which some friends had taken. Both were equally lovely! April proved a good time to go as everywhere was fairly quiet – even Whitby! The house was beautifully equipped and lacked nothing that I can think of. Looking forward to our next stay!

The Wades, Yorkshire

All 3 bedrooms were a good size with plenty of hanging space. Bathrooms also good size, with nice new towels. The living area was well laid out and there was everything you require in the kitchen, this led out to a lovely relaxing patio area with lovely view. We were unaware, until the neighbour told us, that we had a lock up in the car park with BBQ and everything required to visit the beach. It was a really lovely walk to get to the beach and village which is very picturesque.

Would definitely recommend this house to families of all ages.
