Escape to a wonderful pastoral paradise

Far from the madding crowds, succumb to the provincial life at Nightjar. From humble beginnings, this beautifully restored hayloft promises rustic charm and ambrosial luxury. Framed by resplendent wooden beams, the lofty ceilings and expansive open plan layout create an atmosphere of boundless space.

Spread across one floor, the Kitchen, Dining Area and Lounge form the beating heart of Nightjar, with the four bedrooms nestled in separate wings. Taking centre stage, the magnificent freestanding log burner casts flickering warmth throughout the living area. Indulge in a candlelit dinner before retreating to the lounge where plump cushions and furs await. Stargazing is obligatory, so warm your toes in front of the glowing embers and decamp to the balcony for a nightcap under celestial skies.

Two cosy bedrooms sit at each end of the horseshoe shaped hayloft, all with en-suites. Flooded with gentle light, the spacious king sized Master Bedroom looks out across rolling fields. Wake up late and tuck into hot buttered toast and steaming coffee before plunging into the freestanding bath for a decadent morning soak. Finished in a flourish of soft pink and fawn, a versatile zip and link bed is nestled under sloping eaves next door. In the opposite wing, an alluringly romantic king sized room and delightful twin complete the bedroom set.

Available to book alongside the neighbouring Willow’s Rest and with acres of private countryside surrounding both properties, fall in love with the simple pleasures of the great outdoors. Build woodland dens, stomp through deserted fields and recline in the long grass for a ploughman’s picnic under the hazy sun. Set on the edge of Exmoor with stables on site and horse-riding centres nearby, there’s no better way to explore the wilds of Somerset and Devon. Once you’ve had your rural fill, meander in and out of Dulverton’s independent cafés and shops before tucking into an exquisite meal at one of the local award-winning restaurants.

Adorned with plush velvet cushions and soft sheepskin throws, the lounge features a myriad of colours and textures, from deep yellows and olive greens to rich blues and luxurious pinks. Start the night with board games and drinks before cosying up on one of the vintage leather sofas to the crackle of the grand freestanding log burner. Complete with a Bose speaker, fill the evening with music as you catch up with family and friends.

A 65” LG Smart TV provides another fabulous entertainment option for long nights, while balmy summer evenings are best enjoyed from the sun-drenched decking. Open the doors and head outside for an al fresco tapas, or wait until darkness falls to wrap up warm and enjoy a nightcap as the sky becomes dotted with stars.

Master Bedroom

Bright, spacious and blissfully private, the Master Bedroom looks out across the surrounding countryside. With a king size bed for sleepy mornings, this gorgeous bedroom features beautiful soft grey interiors. An idyllic spot for relaxation, take advantage of the expansive double height windows by raising the blinds and looking out across the moors from the comfort of a vibrant velvet armchair.

Beautifully framed by wooden beams, the en-suite bathroom is finished in traditional exposed stone. The luxurious bath tub enjoys a sky view from the Velux window, creating a perfect evening escape to sink into a cloud of bubbles beneath starry skies. The walk-in Nikles shower with waterfall head makes for an invigorating start to the day, while a Hatria farmhouse style sink continues the room’s country feel.

Bedroom Two

A real interior haven, Bedroom Two is an elegant space with a creative and homely design. The versatile zip and link bed provides the option for a king or two twins, tailoring the room for all group make-ups. The unique wood effect wall and beautiful brushed cotton bedding continue the pastoral theme, while side tables and a rustic chest of drawers provide ample storage space. Take a moment for yourself and admire the rolling countryside views from the window, as ponies from the stables graze in the neighbouring pastures.

Bedroom Three

Located at the opposite end of the house to the Master Bedroom, this cosy king size room is a total suntrap in the summer months and an inviting farmhouse hideaway for when the weather takes a turn. Owing to its large skylight window and cool colour palette, Bedroom Three is flooded with natural light, while an expansive mirrored wardrobe provides plenty of hanging space. High vaulted ceilings and original beams add to the cosy cottage feel, while vibrant soft furnishings create an inviting setting to lose yourself in a good book before breakfast.

The sleek en-suite bathroom has everything you need to prepare for the day, with a huge walk-in shower, stunning wraparound feature wall and tree-top views.

Bedroom Four

Inspired by coast and country, this spacious twin bedroom occupies the farthest corner of the property and is awash with colour and personality. From the striking deep blue interiors and industrial style beds to the arresting wooden beams and characterful oak furniture, the space is a welcoming holiday bolthole for guests of all ages.
