The Tide House is an incredibly popular property and is exclusively available to rent as a luxurious self-catering bolt-hole, sleeping up to 18 across 7 bedrooms.

This 16th century Cornish stone house, originally built as a master mariner’s house, has a long rich history. Dramatically renovated in 2012, The Tide House has been transformed into the spacious and homely property you see today. A large open plan living and dining area opens out onto an elegant walled courtyard, opening up this large ground floor space making it perfect for a special occasion.

Brought into the modern day with well thought-out interior design, yet retaining much of its original character: an exposed stone wall here, a rustic timber beam there and tasteful coastal nuances reminding you of your exceptional beach and harbour side location.

St Ives is a destination that should be on everyone’s bucket list. With 8 beaches to choose from (some hidden and often overlooked by many visitors) St Ives is unarguably entitled to claim the best beaches in Cornwall. The crystal azure waters and fine gold sand beaches have captivated visitors, artists and locals for centuries.

Known for its narrow cobbled streets and rows of traditional stone Cornish cottages, world-renowned arts scene and iconic seafood restaurants – St Ives really does have the whole package.

Please note

The owners of The Tide House only welcome stays during July and August but occasionally will accept breaks outside of these months if they are not using the property themselves. If you would like to book outside of July and August, please contact us.

Activities on your doorstep

There are many great things to do for everyone, right on the doorstep of The Tide House. The 'Local Area’ page has been designed so that you can have a snapshot to see just what’s available in the immediate locality and a bit further away. Our inclusive concierge team and holiday planners will be able to help you book anything that you want to do during your perfect stay.

  • Beaches

There are 4 excellent beaches within St Ives: Porthmeor, Porthminster, The Harbour Beach and Porthgwidden, as well as a couple of hidden dog friendly coves.

A short drive away will bring you to the renowned Carbis Bay and Porthkidney Beaches, or explore the stretching miles of the Hayle Beaches leading to Godrevy Lighthouse.

  • Coastal Walks

Unsurprisingly, St Ives boasts some of the county’s most iconic coastal walks. A moderate walk from Hayle to St Ives begins at Britain’s oldest swing bridge, taking in the Hayle Estuary and merges with part of the ancient St Michael’s Way Pilgrim Trail from Lelant to Marazion.

A gentler, but no less impressive, walk around Godrevy Lighthouse will lead you in Virginia Woolf’s footsteps. The lighthouse was a pinnacle symbol in Woolf’s novel ‘To the Lighthouse’.

  • Cycling

The Cornish Way has over 200 miles of interlinking trails spanning from Bude to Land’s End. Keen cyclists might wish to embark on the First & Last trail from Hayle to Land’s End. A scenic trail with a mixture of off road, level trails and on road.

Certain sections of this 25 mile trail are suitable for families, for example Land’s End to Sennen Cove. Contact us for further details and we’d be happy to advise.

  • For The Foodies

Where to begin? For those jaw-dropping beachside views whilst dining, you can’t beat Porthminster Beach Cafe. Just a pebble’s throw away you’ll find well-reputed St Andrew’s Bistro. For spectacular harbour views, you can’t beat Alba or Alfresco on Wharf Street.

Further afield, but highly recommend, is The Gurnard’s Head at Zennor. A beautiful rugged location, this is the perfect stop for a Sunday Roast after a coastal walk or for a special occasion dinner.

  • For The Kids

Families will be spoilt for choice with all the activities and day trips suitable for children. The St Ives School of Painting is fantastic for young budding artists, offering family courses or children’s drop-in classes.

Paradise Park in nearby Hayle is every kid’s dream day out with over 650 birds and animals to see. Geevor Tin Mine is a brilliant rainy day activity stepping back in time with guided tours below ground. And of course not forgetting the countless gold sand beaches for a classic day at the beach.

  • Golf

The West Cornwall Golf club is one of the finest and oldest golf clubs in Cornwall, having been established in 1889. It’s position in the sandy dunes that make up the Hayle Estuary ensure that the course is usable all year round. Enjoy a round or two with beautiful views over St Ives Bay and Godrevy from every hole.

Visitors are always welcome, particularly to the 19th hole (clubhouse) for a few drinks and bite to eat. Booking in advance is recommended so contact our concierge team and we’ll arrange everything.

  • Land's End

No holiday to West Cornwall is complete without a visit to the most south westerly tip of the UK. Visit Longship’s Lighthouse and walk the beautiful coastal path to have your picture taken with the iconic signpost.

  • Local Pubs

St Ives isn’t short of a few great pubs, from historic Olde Worlde public houses such as The Sloop Inn and Hobblers on the harbour front to the modern twist on a classic pub, such as The Rum & Crab Shack.

Exploring the winding cobbled streets will unearth numerous other treasures and taverns, like The Castle Inn of Fore Street.

  • Galleries

St Ives has some fantastic museums including the world famous Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth museum and gardens. Both perfect for a browse on a rainy or sunny day.

The captivating light quality has lured artists in scores from every corner of the globe: cyan blue skies and sea playing off gold sand and colourful cottages. As a result, reams of art galleries line the cobbled streets and make for a perfect day of pondering.

  • Pamper

Really take the pressure off and pamper yourself while on holiday at one of St Ives’ luxury spas overlooking the sea. The St Ives Harbour Spa offers a range of excellent day packages with lunch or afternoon tea while C Bay Spa at Carbis Bay provides an extensive range of treatments overlooking the blue flag beach.

For ultimate relaxation and privacy, allow us to arrange one of our excellent therapists to come to any of our properties for all your therapeutic needs.

  • Sea Fishing

The crystal blue waters surrounding St Ives are teeming with life. Numerous fishing boats are available to provide trips for keen anglers and the whole family. This is a great activity for all abilities and ages and some skippers may even allow you to take your catch home for the freshest fish supper you’ll find in the whole of St Ives.

  • Surf & Watersport

With lots of beautiful beaches comes lots of opportunities to get in the water. Surf, kayak, coasteer or SUP around the turquoise coastline of St Ives. Fantastic surf schools and hire can be found on Porthmeor Beach and Carbis Bay.
