Outside, there’s plenty of space for the party to separate off. Spend sociable summer evenings bubbling away in the hot tub or take to one of the patios to enjoy afternoon tea surrounded by pretty garden views.

Crantock is a beautiful coastal village, imbued with the rustic charm of whitewashed thatched cottages and sandy paths winding through the sand dunes, parting to reveal an expanse of powdery beach and a distant tumbling sea.

The mesmerising Gannel estuary is a paradise for kayakers and stand up paddle boarders, while Fistral Beach is just along the coast. Those partial to real ales, friendly company and wood fires will be charmed by the local 400 year old thatched pub, the Old Albion Inn.

Beaches and watersports

Crantock Beach is famed for its fine sand, rolling dunes and crystal clear blue waters, just off the Gannel Estuary. Wander through the wildflowers towards the secluded Polly Joke Beach or head to Fistral to drink and dine at the restaurants and bars lining the sand. You can also cross the estuary on the Fern Pit Ferry at high tide between May and September. Watersports enthusiasts will love the nearby Lusty Glaze, with jet ski hire and SUP available.

crantock-food-drink-1.jpg

Food and drink

A traditional Cornish village, Crantock has a great pub: the 400-year-old thatched Old Albion Inn, offering good quality food and a range of local ales and wines. A picturesque walk at low tide brings you to the popular Lewinnick Lodge near Pentire Head – a lovely setting for sunset cocktails. For extra special dining, The Scarlet in Mawgan Porth is an excellent option. Keen wine drinkers will love sampling the county’s finest fizz with Cornish Wine Tours, while the Camel Valley and Trevibban Mill vineyards provide idyllic backdrops for a glass or two.

crantock-outdoor-pursuits.jpg

Outdoor pursuits

Set off along the South West Coast Path and explore the circular Gannel route, head towards Penpol Creek or venture a little further afield towards Holywell Bay. Hire bikes and pedal your way into Padstow along the picturesque Camel Trail, or perfect your swing at the St Enodoc and Trevose golf clubs. With its rich fishing heritage, Cornwall has plenty of fantastic boat trips and charters to try – from mackerel fishing with the kids to more adventurous voyages catching cod and conger eels.

Activities for children

Nearby Newquay is home to an abundance of child friendly activities. If the sun is shining, St Eval Kart Circuit will see competitive spirits soar, while the Lappa Valley Steam Railway and Lusty Glaze Adventure Centre are perfect for younger explorers. On rainy days, head to the Blue Reef Aquarium for an educational afternoon, with opportunity to watch feeding times. Or, the thrill seekers can tackle obstacle courses and foam pits at Newquay Trampoline Park.

Time for pampering

A real treat for body, mind and soul, Crantock Bay Spa is a restorative haven overlooking the Cornish coastline. Slip into the indoor heated pool before enjoying a holistic treatment from one of the spa’s experienced staff, indulge in a full day experience or stop by for a morning massage. Alternatively, The Headland on the north coast offers a relaxing place of peace and well-being, combining top to toe treatments with a chilled out beach vibe.

Festivals and events

Taking over Fistral Beach every summer, Boardmasters Festival promises a wonderful weekend of live music and surfing competitions. From silent discos to wellbeing workshops, there’s plenty for all ages to enjoy. One of Cornwall’s more unique traditions, the Crantock Bale Push takes places on the second Friday of September, attracting large crowds as a team of four push a hay bale around the village’s streets. Serving up food, live music and entertainment, it’s an event not to be missed for locals and visitors alike.

We had a wonderful stay at Trewhella, it really is a beautiful house and very homely. Location is perfect with it being so close to the sea and the village of Crantock. The hot tub is an added bonus and we even managed to sit outside in April with a cup of coffee! A perfect house for two families to enjoy and relax. Can't wait to revisit soon.

Title is in the name of your company. It was a perfect stay and very accommodating as we needed to get into the property earlier due to our daughter being disabled and this was arranged plus organised a chef for us at late notice. Excellent service and highly recommended - checked in half way through to see if all ok. Couldn't ask for more.

Wonderful stay at Trewhella. Christmas was perfect! Thank you.

The Price Family, Gloucestershire | Trustpilot - January 2022

We had a family week away in Cornwall booked through Perfect Stays. The property we stayed in was called Trewella in the village of Crantock just outside Newquay. Everything was as described, the property was well appointed not far from the beach and was set in a very large garden. I can find nothing to complain about, everything was great. The house was immaculately clean and tidy and was a great location for our week in Cornwall. The booking process with Perfect Stays was very smooth as was the process for accessing the property.

We have just come home from a lovely two weeks holiday Crantock, the property we stayed in was Trewhella! Beautiful! Every thing you could wish for, all the mod cons in the house, the beach just down the road, and a beautiful village! Looking forward to visiting again soon.

This place is beautiful and I'm struggling to find any fault with it. Beautifully presented with excellent facilities. The service I received from Perfect Stays was amazing and from the first touch at booking through the whole process through to the end I felt valued and received first class customer service. I will definitely use them again and recommend to my family and friends.

We have just had the most fabulous week in Crantock, Cornwall at Trewhella. Thank you to Perfect Stays for 5 star service - the first time we've booked with you and definitely will again. And won't hesitate to recommend you. The house was spotless on arrival - such a lovely light, airy and modern property, in a perfect location on the beach road - so no queuing in traffic to get to the beach car park! Lots of outside seating areas to make the most of the sun - which we've been very lucky to have all week! Crantock bay is stunning and we would definitely recommend a walk on the headland around to Polly Joke beach with a stop at C Bay or Bowgie Inn on the way back! The Jam Jar Kitchen in the village serves delicious pizzas, and Lewinnick Lodge nearby is great too with incredible views across Fistral. Can't wait to come back again! Thank you.
