Blending contemporary and classic design with a gentle coastal colour palette, this three-storey home is simply stunning. Sat high above the water’s edge in Downderry, Amar enjoys 180-degree ocean views over the south coast. Surround yourself with vintage furniture, modern art and natural linens - every room radiates a cool, laid back luxury.

Sleeping up to 10 guests across three floors, there’s plenty of room for family and friends to gather together for a week of relaxation. Awake to blue views from every bedroom and immerse yourself in coastal life with the beach just a short walk away. For those who love to switch off, choose a sunny spot on the elevated terrace to flick through a novel, or make yourself at home in the peaceful library.

Designed to make the most of its incredible sea views, the elevated terrace is set on the first floor while the hot tub area is on the third. This way, you can spill out into the sunshine from the kitchen with icy drinks and zesty salads to hand. There’s an outdoor kitchen area perfect for whipping up barbequed lunches, and a pizza oven for Margherita making come evening. Wind down by taking a dip in the hot tub once dusk arrives and listen as the waves roll into the shores below.

Occupying the ground floor is the games and TV room. Finished in soft blues and greys, this room welcomes family film nights and rainy day games. There’s a purpose-built bar complete with a wine cooler and popcorn maker, while a 65” Smart TV sits in front of a large l-shaped sofa and a vintage pool table just behind. Doubling up as the fifth bedroom, the sofa unfolds as a bed for two younger guests.

Set on Cornwall’s picturesque south coast, there’s plenty to keep everyone busy during a stay. Amble down to the dog-friendly beach for a day playing in the waves, or take to the coast path to explore one of the county’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Rame Peninsula. Known for its gentle shores, you may spot dolphins following sailing boats in the warmer months or book an unforgettable trip with Looe Sea Safaris.

More about theLower Ground Floor

Games Room

Awash in gentle blues and sage greens, the games room can be found on the lower ground floor and is perfect for rainy days and film nights. Contemporary artwork and David Shrigley illustrations make this room a playful and cool space, great for all generations to enjoy. Two large windows flood the room with natural light during the day, while the heavy curtains transform it into a cosy nighttime hideaway once evening rolls around.

A large l-shaped sofa sits in front of the 65” Samsung Smart TV, perfect for sinking into at the end of each day.  Additionally, a Bluetooth speaker allows you to soundtrack your evening perfectly and for those who relish a spot of competition, there’s a traditional oak pool table to keep everyone entertained. Unique in design, the table has been upholstered with sage green cloth - making it a luxurious addition to the space.

Finished in dark blue cabinetry, the bar area sits beneath the stairs and features a wine cooler and American popcorn maker - so adults and children alike can enjoy a refreshment while their favourite film plays. This room also doubles up as a bedroom with the sofa folding out into a bed for two younger guests.

More about theGround Floor

Kitchen and Dining Area

Light, bright and laid back, the kitchen showcases incredible sea views as far as the eye can see. Ash flooring, dove grey cabinetry and marble countertops beautifully complement one another, making the room a natural space for everyone to gather throughout the day. Home to a large kitchen island, there’s four bar stools for those early morning coffee drinkers and window seating for little ones to perch while eggs and buttery soldiers are prepared.

There’s plenty of storage space for the holiday food shop, as well as an American fridge-freezer ready to be stocked. Appliance-wise, this room is equipped to the highest standard with a Nespresso Krups coffee machine, Ilve Milano range cooker, Dualit kettle and toaster, and a Hotpoint dishwasher too.

Sitting in front of the large windows is the dining table. Seating 10 guests, the wooden table is perfect for celebratory suppers and clinking glasses - on warmer evenings, switch on the Bluetooth speaker and open the French doors to allow the warm breeze to roll in and while away the hours until sundown.

Living Area

Finished in beautiful creams and linens, this room also enjoys incredible sea views from its elevated position above the waves. Sisal, linens and velvets are layered to create a gorgeous contemporary space with large fine line illustrations adorning the walls. Settle into an olive green armchair or opt for a space on the oatmeal sofa. A selection of linen hardbacks have been placed on top of a glass coffee table, ready to be flicked through during easy-going afternoons. The ocean views are enough to keep everyone entertained, but there’s also a JVC Smart TV and a Bluetooth speaker for easy watching or listening.

Library

Offering a calm and quiet spot away from the rest of the group, the library is an interior masterpiece. With deep green walls, bespoke shelving, a soft leather sofa and a vintage bureau, this room is great for those wishing to work from home during their stay. Dotted with ceramic vases and leather-bound books, it’s easy to spend a few hours in this room with a pot of freshly brewed coffee.

There’s also a Roberts radio and 32" JVC Smart TV set amongst the books, so steal a few hours to tune into a broadcast or catch up on a much-loved series.

Utility and WC

Tucked away behind the kitchen is the small, but perfectly formed utility room. Featuring a John Lewis microwave and a Hoover washing machine and tumble drier, there’s everything you’d need.

Beside the utility, find the first floor’s WC. Adorned in vibrant wallpaper and dark blue paneling, this room is as beautifully designed as the rest of the house.

Made up of coastal blues, boucle whites and nautical stripes, this room is the definition of effortless luxury. Layering textures, patterns and styles, the interiors of this room make a subtle nod to its suburban influences while remaining a complete coastal haven. Two armchairs sit at the end of the super king bed, meaning you can enjoy the views as soon as you wake up every morning.

Come evening, the large linen lamp shades flood the room with a gentle orange hue, and a freestanding wardrobe and vintage dressing table awaits for those getting ready for their dinner reservations.

The addition of a luxurious en-suite and waterfall shower means you relish the morning routine before joining the rest of the group for breakfast downstairs.

Additional information

While Amar can sleep up to 10 guests in total, it accepts a maximum of eight adults. The sofa bed in the games room sleeps two children.

Due to Amar's elevated location, access to the property is via a flight of steps (18 steps in total, and a further 27 to the hot tub). For this reason, we wouldn't recommend Amar to guests with limited mobility and children and dogs should be supervised when using the outdoor areas. There are also steps around the internal areas of the property.

Guests with pacemakers should avoid using the induction hob as this can interfere with the device.

This property doesn't have an electric car charger, but there are public charging stations located nearby. You can find them here.
