Every year, locals and visitors flock to the fisherman's village of Mousehole to soak up their annual Christmas lights. Experience a special taste of Cornwall's winter wonderland this festive season, with musical guests set to perform around the harbour each night between the 11th and 21st December.
Watch in awe as the village and harbour sparkle with an array of bright colours, sure to get you into the festive spirit in no time. Discover the festive characters that await, keeping your eyes peeled for the whale and serpent dipping their heads out of the harbour, along with the 150ft spectacle 'Merry Christmas' sign on the hillside.
Unlike last year, Mousehole's lights will not have an official switch on ceremony, instead the village will be illuminated from 5pm on 11th December until 10pm on 6th January, a longer period than previous years. It's also worth nothing that on 19th December, the lights switch off from 8pm to commemorate the crew of the Penlee Lifeboat disaster of 1981. To keep this enchanting event thriving for future generations, dispense your pennies into the collector’s boxes peppered across the village as you marvel at these festive delights.
If you're visiting during the busier periods, hop on nearby Penzance’s park and ride bus or try your luck with parking nearby the centre, factoring in enough time for a chilly stroll into the heart of Mousehole. Upon your arrival, ramble through the narrow streets, following the winding strings of lanterns as they flit between corners, streets and houses. Don’t forget to pop into some of the local shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs for a much needed winter warmer. From mulled wine and cider to hot chocolate and cake, there’s sure to be a sweet treat waiting to soothe frosty hands.
