A pretty flower farm in its previous life, Porth Enys House is a private sanctuary with magnificent ocean views.

Occupying an exclusive position above Mousehole harbour, the spectacular Porth Enys House is immediately captivating. Set within twenty acres of secluded gardens and with its own shoreline, this striking property features one of the finest views in the country. The breathtaking panorama wraps around Mount’s Bay, across the iconic St Michael’s Mount and all the way out to The Lizard.

Spread over three levels, Porth Enys House combines traditional interiors with quirky finishing touches. Completely unique, you’ll fall in love with the unconventional charm of this grand house the moment you step through the front door. With incredible coastal views from virtually every room in the property, there’s a myriad of spaces to while away tranquil hours watching the world sail by.

Surrounded by flower-filled gardens, the large conservatory is a beautiful spot for dining with family and friends. The comfortable lounge features a wood burner and more stunning views, and the high-tech TV room is perfect for spending cosy evenings together.

Each of the four bedrooms in the main house look out across the ocean, and the fifth separate bedroom in the “lookout” has its own private decking overlooking the water.

Blissfully private, Porth Enys House is perfect for dog owners and multi-generational family groups. The picturesque Mousehole harbour and its range of restaurants, pubs and boutique shops are just a short walk away. Renowned for the sensational Mousehole Harbour Lights at Christmas, this quaint Cornish village is idyllic in winter as well as summer.

If you’d like to explore further afield, St Michael’s Mount is just around the bay and the stunning Porthcurno beach, Sennen Cove and Porthchapel beach are all within a short drive.

More about theExterior

Greenhouse

In full bloom during the summer months, the greenhouse is awash with blossom, filling the garden with colour and catching heavenly floral scents on the breeze. With fresh fruit and vegetables growing inside, guests are welcome to help themselves to the season’s offerings, from zesty oranges to summertime courgettes.

Garden

From the neat lawned garden at the rear of the property, to the statement ornaments dotted throughout, there’s plenty to be explored by seasoned gardeners and curious younger adventurers alike. There is also a barbeque, dining table with ten chairs and several sun loungers, perfect for relaxing in the sunshine.

Laundry Building

Located next to the greenhouse, the detached laundry building houses a washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as a pool table for an extra spot of garden entertainment.

Large Pond

To the right of the garden there is a large ornamental pond. There is no screening or fencing around this pond, so young children will need to be supervised at all times.

Parking

The large gravel drive at the front of the property provides plenty of parking for up to six cars.

Please note: To ensure the gardens at Porth Enys House are kept looking beautiful for all of our guests a gardener attends to the grounds every Wednesday and Friday.

More about theEstate

Estate

Enjoy a relaxed stroll through the pretty woodland surrounding the property, and venture down to watch the sea crash against the rocks at the bottom of the estate. Lined with wild flora and fauna, the circular walk loops back towards the entrance of the house and provides plenty of coastal lookout spots along the way.

The owners allow just a few local people to use the small parts of the land for various projects, including a small vineyard and vegetable garden, but you are unlikely to see them.

Please be aware that the tidal currents around the shoreline can become quite strong, and this area should only be explored by those with full mobility, and not by young children. The area is to be avoided unless the sea is flat, and the rocks are dry.

Mousehole

Outdoor pursuits

Go in search of dolphins, sharks and seals with Marine Discovery on a wildlife spotting boat trip or try your hand at sea fishing with local companies like Down The Cove and Bite Adventures. Keen walkers will love setting off along the coast path to explore Land’s End, Lamorna Cove, Newlyn, Porthcurno and Sennen Cove on foot, while golfers can perfect their swing at the nearby Praa Sands, President’s or West Cornwall golf courses.

Heritage and culture

Watch the village come alive during the festive season as Mousehole’s much-loved Harbour Lights return for another year. Expect dazzling illuminations, twinkling boats and Christmas-clad buildings, plus plenty of local events. For daytime entertainment, head to the world famous Minack Theatre to see an open-air show with a beautiful coastal backdrop. There are plenty of musicals, dramas and operas to marvel at between May and September.

Food and drink

Mousehole is a haven for food lovers with 2 Fore Street, The Ship Inn and The Old Coastguard Hotel offering fantastic varied menus to suit all appetites. The sun-blushed vineyard at Polgoon in Penzance offers tours and tastings to showcase its quality Cornish wines, ciders and juices, while Mousehole and its surrounding villages are home to some lovely pubs for a drink or two. We recommend Lamorna Wink and the Kings Arms.

Beaches and watersports

While Mousehole’s charming tidal beach sits right on your doorstep, some of Cornwall’s best beaches, including Porthcurno and Lamorna Cove, can be reached within a short drive. Surfers will love the crashing waves at Sennen Cove, while calmer waters can be found at Pednvounder and Marazion. There’s plenty of fun to be had in the water too – with scuba diving, kite surfing, speed sailing and jet ski hire all operating in and around Mousehole.

Time for pampering

Unwind at the beautiful St Ives Harbour Hotel Spa, featuring a heated swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room and fitness suite. A massage room accompanies a beautiful outdoor pool at The Cove Cornwall, with Cornish seaweed wraps and Reiki healing creating a real sanctuary to relax and refresh. Other nearby spas include Tregenna Castle, C Bay Spa and the Natural Health Spa at Budock Vean – all of which we highly recommend.

What a fantastic house and magnificent garden. Unforgettable holiday in a stunning location. Great days have been had here that will live forever in our memories. Just brilliant.

The Yoxall Family, Cumbria - February 2021

We loved our stay at Porth Enys House. It accommodated eight of us perfectly and we had lovely weather and enjoyed the house and more importantly the gardens and the magnificent views!

There is something special about going to sleep with the moon shining through your bedroom window and waking up to the sunrise. Mousehole was sweet, we enjoyed the short walk down in to the village and along the coastal path behind the house to Lamorna. Best meal at 2 Fore Street, Mousehole. Thoroughly recommend.
