Trebarwith Strand to Tintagel Castle
This circular route navigates a spectacular slice of the north Cornwall coastline and arrives at one of the county’s most famous landmarks. Tintagel Castle is steeped in Arthurian legend, and the surrounding coastline is adorned with tales of myth and magic. Trebarwith Valley to Backways Cove
Uncover rural and coastal vistas with this pleasing circular trail that’s peppered with the remnants of the area’s quarrying past, including tramways. Backways Cove has a wealth of these features on display, with the upper part of the inlet resembling a gorge above the stream bed that winds out over the slate and pebble beach before joining the sea. Also in Trebarwith, The Millhouse Inn dates back to the 18th century and boasts a beautiful setting for enjoying hearty food and a post-beach pint.
Located four miles away in Boscastle, The Rocket Store is a fantastic seafood restaurant that champions local organic food across a menu that changes each day. You can expect everything from wild sea bass sashimi to pan-fried Cornish hake. A little farther along the coast in Port Isaac lies Outlaw’s New Road – run by celebrity chef Nathan Outlaw. Boasting two Michelin stars, the centrepiece of this sea-view restaurant is an eight-course seafood tasting menu.
Trebarwith Strand Beach is dog-friendly throughout the year, so playful pups can join in the seaside fun and coastal adventures. Bossiney Cove, tucked away behind cliffs between Boscastle and Tintagel, is another gem that welcomes canine companions year-round. While completely submerged at high tide, the waves recede to unveil a gorgeous patch of golden sand adorned with rock pools. Note that the path down to Bossiney is steep.
