Nestled in the cobbled streets of the historic market town of Frome, The Archangel is a charming, traditional pub, serving a three-course menu on Christmas Day for £90 per person. We're undecided between the pumpkin, cider and chestnut soup or the duck liver mousse for a starter. There are plenty of tempting options for the main course too, including sirloin grass-fed beef with Yorkshire pudding and seasonal vegetables, or the butternut squash and lentil Wellington.
To round things off, tuck into a toffee apple, fig and chestnut crumble, or an Oxford Blue and Tunworth Camembert. After your festive lunch, take a stroll through the town or alongside the River Frome, where you'll find a plethora of other restaurants, pubs and cafés to visit during your stay.

Highlighting flavour and balance, this beautifully modernised 19th-century schoolhouse is ideal for those who appreciate chic surroundings as much as the food. Filled with twinkling lights and sparkling service, ascend to the mezzanine floor for a glass of champagne under vaulted ceilings adorned with chandeliers before settling in for a festive-themed set menu.
Perfect for those looking to take the stress out of every aspect of the day, the only decision you'll have to make is what tipple to pair with your food. The celebrations are £150 per person and you'll be treated to spiced Devon duck leg fritter to start, followed by roast turkey and all the trimmings for mains. When you're almost ready to retire to your sofa, tuck into a milk chocolate custard tart, with clementine sorbet for the perfect end to the day. The separate vegetarian menu features a range of festive delights, including root vegetable mince pies and wild mushroom parfait, with sherry gel and sourdough crumpet.
Accessibility notes: Access to the bar is up a steep set of stairs but everywhere else is on the same level. This restaurant offers table service.
Located on the bustling High Street in Frome, this hotel and restaurant offers a fabulous setting for Christmas Day lunch, at £85 per head. Choose between duck liver parfait with orange and chestnut dressing, or French onion soup to start, followed by honey glazed confit duck leg or mushroom wellington for the main.

We recommend the salt baked celeriac as a starter, followed by roast Somerset turkey for the main course, before taking a tour of the grounds and enjoying a generous helping of Christmas frangipane.

In the heart of the Somerset countryside, The Holcombe is a cosy, dog-friendly pub, with a roaring fire, welcoming atmosphere and a marvellous festive menu for Christmas Day lunch. Arrive to homemade sourdough and nibbles on the table to enjoy while you peruse the menu. The poached tiger prawns and the pan fried scallops with roasted chestnut and pancetta are just two of the tempting options to start off the meal.
For the main course, the pan roasted pheasant breast is sure to go down a treat, while the portobello mushroom pithivier is a tasty vegetarian option. The dark chocolate tart, served with mulled wine poached pears has our vote for pudding, or the Christmas pudding with brandy sauce for those who prefer something a bit more traditional.
