Diners who value flavour, simplicity, and provenance need look no further. Nanstallon's latest opening promises nostalgic British food sourced from trusted Cornish suppliers. With Chef Paul Welburn at the helm, think seafood suppers and small plates meant for sharing.

Fern is open for leisurely Sunday lunches and also offers an à la carte menu, where highlights include smoked octopus, glazed celeriac and teriyaki bream. On the cocktail list, we're drawn to the "Penny Sweet Dreams" and "Eldermentary My Dear", both made with vermouth from nearby Knightor Winery.

Ugly Butterfly in Newquay

What's new for 2026? After a move from St Ives, Ugly Butterfly 2.0 lives on

Adam Handling's restaurant has relocated from the Carbis Bay Estate in St Ives to the north coast, where it now overlooks Fistral Beach. A forever favourite of the Perfect Stays team, Ugly Butterfly's signature hasn't been lost. You'll still find theatrical cocktails, storybook afternoon tea, and expert wine pairings to accompany the nine-course tasting menu. Starting with a "picnic on the beach", the latter features smoked potato with caviar, venison ravioli, preserved truffles and a Victorian plum crumble.

For special occasions, booking the afternoon tea is a must. The Christmas 2025 menu featured elevated savouries like St Ives smokehouse salmon with cream cheese, and sage and onion sausage rolls, followed by cinnamon spiced scones with Kea plum jam. To drink, choose from Tregothnan tea grown on the Roseland Peninsula, a chilled glass of sparkling wine, or free-flowing bubbles for a truly decadent afternoon.

Currently undergoing a refurb ahead of Valentine's Day dining, the restaurant itself isn't dog-friendly, but the bar and terrace are - four-legged friends are even offered their own menu.

Samphire in Fowey

Where you'll find it: 28 Fore Street, Fowey, PL23 1AQ
What's new for 2026? Everything! Samphire is a brand new restaurant on Fowey's quay, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We first heard news of Samphire on Instagram in October 2025. Since then, we — and the wider Cornwall community — have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Fowey's newest restaurant.

It's said to be a place where bold flavours meet seasonal inspiration. On the sample menu, you'll spot dishes like Goan spiced St Austell Bay mussels, hand-picked Cornish crab tagliatelle, and chilli lime squid tacos. Sunday roasts include maple-glazed pork loin and salt-baked beetroot, while those with a sweet tooth will love the tiramisu with pistachio, vanilla and coffee liqueur.

Booking ahead is essential. Breakfast is served every day from 8am, lunches from Thursday to Sunday, and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday.

What's new for 2026? Saturday brunch and a winter set menu

When Barnaby's reopens on 11th February, the team will return with a Michelin Guide mention under their belts and a Saturday brunch on the menu. We've loved the food here since the start, when Barnaby's started life as a pop-up at its sister restaurant, Prawn on the Lawn in Padstow. Since then, it's become an inspector's favourite, earning praise for its modern Middle Eastern-inspired dishes.

Tempted by the new winter set menu? Book a table for £35 per person to be welcomed with a chilled glass of POTL rosé, flatbreads and hummus. Then dive into delicious small plates like whipped feta, chicken thighs with ginger and lime, and roast carrot with pomegranate and chilli yoghurt. A spiced potato side and an orange crème fraîche filo cake round things off, promising to leave bellies full and faces smiling.

See more from our team afternoon at Barnaby's on Instagram.

Narla in Fowey

Where you'll find it: 19 Fore Street, Fowey, PL23 1AH
What's new for 2026? Recognition in The Michelin Guide

Narla's been popular since it opened its doors in March 2025, but its recent inclusion in the Michelin Guide is sure to see it reach new heights this year. Head chef Charlie Walters was a finalist on MasterChef: The Professionals, having fallen in love with bustling Cornish kitchens at just 14 years old.

His dog-friendly Fowey restaurant offers a range of excellent menus, including dairy-free, gluten-free and plant-based, in addition to the usual à la carte and Sunday lunch options. Choose from Cornish bluefin tuna, dry-aged beef tartare, spiced monkfish and hand-dived scallops, or try the standout glazed maitake (mushroom) with pickled walnut and horseradish.

Narla is open Thursday to Monday. Lunch service is from 12 until 2pm, and dinner from 5:30 to 9pm. While Narla has ground floor entry from Fore Street, we recommend that diners with access needs research Fowey in advance, factoring in its narrow pavements and limited parking.

Outlaw's Guest House & Bistro in Port Isaac

Where you'll find it: 1 The Terrace, Port Isaac, PL29 3SG
What's new for 2026? A bistro opening on 3rd April

When one door closes, another opens. News from Port Isaac is that Nathan Outlaw's New Road restaurant will close on 28th March. In its place, a brand new bistro will open a week later on 3rd April, at the aptly named Outlaw's Guest House & Bistro. Previously only open to overnight guests, it's now set to offer an à la carte menu seven days a week, with excellent Sunday lunch options too.

In true Outlaw style, the sample menu balances the local catch with refined, seasonal flavours. We've spotted peppered hake with watercress sauce, whole Port Isaac lobster, and roast monkfish in pancetta. For dessert, indulge in a luxurious ginger crème caramel with rhubarb, or baked vanilla rice pudding with caramelised pineapple and lime.

What's new for 2026? Silver in the Cornwall Tourism Awards' Restaurant of the Year

After picking up two Cornwall Travel Awards in November, we're seeing big things in 2026 for Newquay's Clover Club. The restaurant and bar on Bank Street took silver in the Restaurant of the Year category and bronze for New Tourism Business.

They're set to reopen on January 21st, with a dinner menu featuring a tempting range of snacks to start, followed by meat, fish and veggie dishes. Think Korean barbeque chicken thighs, prawn, halloumi and harissa skewers, and burrata with cavolo nero hazelnut pesto.

Visit on Saturdays for Brunch Club. Starting at 12pm, diners can choose two delicious small plates to accompany their bottomless prosecco or gin and tonics. The restaurant is also open for lunch until 4pm, and has a children's menu for fuss-free dining while on holiday. Sunday roast season begins in October.

Duchy Larder in Wadebridge

Where you'll find it: 4 Molesworth Street, Wadebridge, PL27 7DA
What's new for 2026? A dog-friendly restaurant and bar

When two chefs with over 30 years of culinary experience join forces, it's safe to say Wadebridge has every reason to be excited by its latest restaurant opening. A great new lunch option, you'll find Vicki and Stuart of Duchy Larder serving fresh, seasonal dishes made from locally sourced ingredients.

With a new menu arriving later this month, expect mackerel small plates and hearty risotto dishes, alongside grilled options and veg-based sides, all evolving slightly each week. On what’s ahead for 2026, Vicki and Stuart share:

"We see 2026 as an exciting year of growth for us, with a continued focus on seasonal produce and guest experience. We’ve recently refreshed our interior, removing the banquette seating from the window to create a lighter, more open and airy feel in the bar area. We’ll also be running our From the Heart February specials for Valentine’s month.

For us, it’s always been about creating a place people genuinely enjoy spending time in. As we look ahead, we’re excited to build on that — thoughtful, seasonal food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a warm, welcoming experience for both locals and visitors."

Wasted Grapes in Newquay

Where you'll find it: Unit 1, The Cribbar Yard, Newquay, TR7 1EP
What's new for 2026? Fine wines, cocktails, "snacky bits" and vinyl nights

As long-time supporters of Cornwall's wine scene, we'd be remiss not to include news from Wasted Grapes: a brand new wine bar in Cribbar Yard. Run by a husband and wife team, it's the perfect setting for cosy vibes, aesthetic snacks and fine wines by the glass.

After a packed opening night, this dog-friendly spot is already proving popular with locals. As well as wine, you'll find unique cocktails like avocado martinis (which sound unusual but are remarkably good) as well as gin and rum-based drinks.
