Passionate owners and a love for local
With interiors to rival 5* hotels and nomadic retreats across the globe, The Baobab was inspired by travels across Morocco, Sri Lanka and the Mediterranean. Marrying boho design with a Cornish setting was something that owners, Graham and Victoria Creswell, envisioned from the start. The dream was clear: to create a bohemian home that's earthed into the landscape and seamlessly invites the outside in.
Spread over 3,745 square feet and taking two years to build, the house is set across three levels. It offers six bedrooms and six bathrooms for up to 14 guests. There’s a vast open plan kitchen, living and dining area complete with a cocktail bar, plus a TV room and a cosy snug. You’ll also find plenty of practical spaces for large group holidays – like the walk-in larder for dinner party prep and the purpose-built dunk tank room for sandy beach returns.
As Graham and Victoria will admit, bringing The Baobab to life has been a labour of love. Local materials have been used wherever possible, and installed by Cornish teams like Luke and Dingle, and Jack Richards Carpentry. You'll also find a treasure trove of designer pieces and antique furniture dotted throughout - from reclaimed timber cabinetry to Abigail Ahern lamps and Nkuku accessories.
Bohemian design at its finest
Upstairs, the master bedroom has been finished in mink-coloured micro cement, with glass sliding doors that provide instant access onto the sea-facing deck. The en-suite bathroom is tiled in textured terracotta, with his and hers sinks, a freestanding tub and walk-in shower providing a spa-like experience every morning and night. All six of The Baobab’s bedrooms have direct balcony access, and throughout the house you’ll find rich green velvet sofas, dark wooden beams and floor-to-ceiling glass that flood the whole space in texture, light and warmth.
For summertime stays, starting the day with lengths in the heated outdoor pool is a must. The infinity-style edge means that shimmering views over the Camel Estuary are always in sight at high tide. Plus, a heated outdoor shower nearby makes it easy to come and go as you wish. The Baobab's plot covers more than two acres, and there's direct access onto the Saint's Way through the private woodland walk. Guests can reach Padstow within 20 minutes on foot, where a collection of chef-named restaurants, cookery schools and dog-friendly pubs await.

A private annexe for two
As part of your stay at The Baobab, push open the door to a secret staircase in bedroom five, and reveal a private annexe for two guests. Sitting on the lower ground floor is a self-contained hideaway complete with a bedroom, bathroom and open plan living space. Designed with privacy in mind, it's an ideal retreat for couples or older guests who value moments of calm while on holiday, and is complete with a separate entrance and parking for two cars.
