Dine on the St Agnes Heritage Coast

Located on the north coast of Cornwall in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the picturesque streets of St Agnes are lined with a variety of tempting restaurants, pubs and cafés. Famed for its unspoilt beaches, breath-taking scenery and mining landscape featured in Poldark, this part of the coastline provides a scenic backdrop for a foodie escape.

From laid back ocean-view dining to welcoming local pubs, there's something for every taste and occasion. Read on to discover our recommendations for eating out in and around St Agnes.

The Tap House

Colourful decor, a lively atmosphere and island-inspired cuisine combine to create one of the most popular venues in St Agnes. With regular live music and beautifully presented dishes, The Tap House offers an apres-sea vibe, perfect after a day at the beach. Soak up the relaxed ambience with a house cocktail or mocktail, while perusing the menu. Serving a range of small plates, including Japanese gyozas and Korean-themed chicken wings, it's the ideal spot for a post-surf snack or for a tapas-style meal with family or friends.

The tropical food theme continues throughout the main menu, where Thai and Sri Lankan curries, Hawaiian-inspired poke bowls and the "Tappy" burger are just some of the delicious options to choose from. The Tap House's tagline is "take it easy", so why not unwind a little longer with a lemon and yuzu tart or a refreshing mango sorbet? Located just a short walk from Trevaunance Cove, it's easy to wander down to catch the sunset after your meal.

Schooners

Perched above Trevaunance Cove, Schooners is a Verdant Taproom and Beach Bar, offering the perfect place to unwind with a mesmerising ocean view. Choose from five local beers on tap, from the Verdant Brewing Company in Penryn, or a selection of wines, cocktails and soft drinks. With two floors indoors and a beachside balcony, there's plenty of tables to choose from to enjoy lunch or dinner on the coast.

Ideal for families and dog-friendly, Schooners offers an unparalleled oceanfront setting for relaxed dining. Enjoy Neapolitan wood fired pizza before an afternoon at the beach or whilst watching the sun disappear behind the horizon. Cooked using fresh ingredients, the pizzas range from the vegan Viola, featuring beetroot and watercress, to the indulgent White Bolognese pizza, with a ragu of pork, beef and pancetta, topped with parmesan and parsley.

Specialising in pasties, giant sausage rolls and a range of loaves and cakes, you'll be spoilt for choice with options for a beach picnic. Daily sandwich specials, homemade quiches and freshly baked focaccia are just some of the mouth-watering savoury options, while cupcakes, cookies and fresh scones are available to satisfy those with a sweet tooth.

Genki

Whether treating yourselves to breakfast on the way to the beach, or enjoying tapas and drinks together by the fire pit in the evening, this quirky café and bar is a must-visit during your St Agnes stay. A Genki breakfast is served between 9:30 and 11am, with tempting options such as Belgium-style waffles and smoothie bowls. For lunch, choose from Genki hot bowls and flatbread wraps, with a range of tasty fillings and fresh vegetables from Goonown Growers, a local community market garden.

Nestled in picturesque surroundings, this dog-friendly eatery has a limited number of tables, both inside and out, so it's worth arriving early for breakfast or lunch. Tapas nights are usually on a Friday, but only during certain times of the year, so we recommend contacting Genki to check their opening times, as they often shut at 4pm. Choices on the tapas menu have previously included chili tiger prawns, potatas bravas chorizo and Cornish cheese with charcuterie.
