Six luxury properties for an unforgettable holiday

If you’re tempted by an impromptu escape this September, answer the call of the Cornish coast. A special time of year where the water stays warm and the sunsets are nothing short of spectacular, we’ve rounded up six of our favourite properties ready for a late summer getaway.

1. The Paddock in Trebarwith Strand

Sleeps 10 – 12 guests | We love it because…there’s an outdoor kitchen and pizza oven, plus it’s now dog-friendly!

New to our Cornwall collection, this coast-meets-country home sits a stone’s throw from the Port William pub and the start of the South West Coast Path. Now dog-friendly, our team love recommending The Paddock for large groups of friends and family.

Complete with an outdoor kitchen, fire pit and Kamado barbeque, there’s plenty of outdoor space to soak up the tranquil sea views, whether it’s from the grassy garden, the wraparound veranda or the master bedroom’s balcony. When it’s time for a day trip, nearby towns like Port Isaac, Tintagel and Boscastle promise outstanding food and fascinating Cornish heritage, all within a 20 minute drive.

2.  Four Geese in Daymer Bay

Sleeps 8 guests | Our favourite feature is…the outdoor bath. It’s the perfect spot to relax with a glass of Cornish fizz.

Ideally situated between the beaches at Polzeath and Daymer Bay, this is the perfect base for sandy excursions in North Cornwall. While the outdoor bath is best enjoyed in the evening sun, Four Geese’s sociable open plan design makes it easy for guests to come and go.

There’s a TV room and a wood burner for chillier September nights, plus three balcony bedrooms with undulating countryside views, and a ground floor room that lends itself to guests with limited mobility. 

On the doorstep, you’ll find exquisite dining options at The Mowhay in Trebetherick and The Mariners in Rock, as well as our trusted watersports contacts at George’s Surf School on Polzeath Beach.

Loved for its hot tub, cinema room and 180-degree views over West Cornwall, this newcomer is already a favourite with our guests. Not only is it dog-friendly and a short walk from the beach at Sennen, on clear days, Breakwater’s views stretch as far as Longships Lighthouse and the Isles of Scilly. 

Finished in white quartz, the kitchen is a natural setting for hosting a private chef, which our Concierge team can arrange on your behalf. Pull up a seat as canapes come to life and bottles of wine are popped open, or take a moment to yourself on the first floor terrace and watch as surfers tear up the waves. 

 

Sleeps 8 guests | We love it because…you have the best of both worlds here – far-reaching sea views plus a short walk to the beach.

Harlyn Bay is one of Cornwall’s best beaches for families. Combine its soft sand, gentle waves and beachside dining options with balmy September temperatures, and the perfect staycation awaits. 

Just a 10 minute walk away, Poldhu provides a sea-view sanctuary for up to eight guests. Its four coastal bedrooms, lookout lounge and bubbling hot tub make it a great space for two families to come together. Air conditioning throughout will be loved during late summer escapes, while the private terrace just off the master bedroom is a peaceful spot for morning coffee.

Also within walking distance of the restaurant and Potting Shed spa at The Pig, you won’t run short on inspiration for memorable days out. 

 

5. Sea Haze in Padstow

Sleeps 4 – 6 guests | We love it because…it’s a private oasis with a suntrap garden, but only a 10 minute walk from the harbour.

September is a great time to explore Padstow amongst quieter crowds. With its string of delicious restaurants, pubs and cafés – and being surrounded by the sandy beaches at Hawker’s Cove and Rock – it offers a calmer slice of Cornwall outside of the school holidays. 

Sitting just a short walk from the harbour, our property Sea Haze is the perfect fit for couples and groups of friends. With a view over the Camel Estuary and soft coastal interiors, it offers a peaceful place to relax after days spent exploring. Chilled cocktails are best enjoyed from the first floor terrace, while downstairs, two of the three bedrooms offer direct access into the garden, making al fresco breakfasts a holiday necessity. 

Always a good idea for special occasions, foodies will love being so close to Rick Stein’s Cookery School and Paul Ainsworth’s Mahé – a chef’s table restaurant and development kitchen. 

 

6. Prennek House in Mawgan Porth

Sleeps 8 guests | Something you must try while staying here is…a craft event at Bedruthan. 

Loved by Grand Designs Magazine and featured as one of Country Life’s top five unique holiday rentals last year, Prennek House overlooks sand and sea in Mawgan Porth. Both the house and the beach are family favourites, and visiting in late summer lends itself to evening sea swims just as the sun sets. 

What we love about Prennek is its striking architecture, eco-conscious interiors and unique artwork throughout – the whole house has been designed to showcase some of the finest creators in the South West. Being dog-friendly, it’s also perfectly placed for exploring this stretch of North Cornwall, including nearby Watergate Bay, with pets in tow.  

Just across the headland on the other side of the beach, Bedruthan’s September series of craft events is a great opportunity to pick up a new skill. One of our favourite Cornish makers, join Hazel from Badger and Birch for a terrazo planter workshop on 14th September, as Mawgan Porth provides a picturesque backdrop. There are also sessions for flower pressing, block printing, candle making and more throughout the month.

Insider tip: if you’re holidaying here later in October, Bedruthan's fire and feast night is not to be missed. Like all good things in Cornwall, it starts with wrapping up warm and heading for the coast, where local food is cooked over an open flame.
