How are you celebrating New Year’s Eve this year?

If you’re planning ahead but stuck for ideas, take a look at our top recommendations for New Year’s Eve in Cornwall. While some of 2025's event details are yet to be confirmed, these locations are prolific for their spectacular celebrations, so expect black-tie balls and firework displays all round.

1. St Ives

As the road closures take place from 6pm, St Ives becomes home to a wonderful range of fancy dress costumes from late afternoon. Thousands of locals and visitors alike show off their most impressive outfits, filling the streets with colour and creativity. Gather on the harbourfront and let your senses soak up the freshly cooked festive treats at the many food stalls, book into a restaurant, or enjoy a tipple at one of the nearby cocktail bars. As midnight nears, find the perfect spectator spot and watch the fireworks light up the harbour.

If glitz and glam is more your style, head to The Harbour Hotel for a celebratory meal, then step outside to rejoice in the nightlife and fireworks later on. For something more casual, Balcony will satisfy your palette with a range of hearty burgers, whilst The Razor Clam will be serving up fresh shellfish and grilled meat dishes. To escape the crowds for a while, Porthminster Beach Café is perfectly positioned for laid back celebrations on the edge of the beach. Access-wise, Cornwall Mobility provide two beach wheelchairs from the café, making for easier NYE planning for older visitors or those with limited mobility. Find one at each end of the beach.

2. Mousehole

For those hoping for a quieter affair, the enchanting village of Mousehole promises to deliver a calm New Year’s Eve. Renowned for the Christmas lights, the fishing port transforms into a festive vision each December, with approximately 7,000 bulbs, floating displays and a 160ft wide Christmas message lit up for all to see. With plenty of cosy nooks in Mousehole's pubs and restaurants, hunker down by the open log fire as you feast on hearty platters and the obligatory glass of fizz, counting down to 2026 with ease.

For sociable dinners, 2 Fore Street offers a delicious tasting menu, featuring refreshing local seafood, high-quality organic meats and crisp vegetables to please all palettes. Boasting a relaxed yet luxurious atmosphere, this venue is perfect for welcoming in the New Year with friends and family. On New Year's Day, why not wrap up warm and embark on one of the coastal walks in and around Mousehole, then cosy up in a Cornish pub for a roast lunch?

New to our property portfolio, Wharf House in Mousehole provides the perfect setting for hunkering down by the wood burner and enjoying the festive harbour lights from the comfort of a window seat. Sleeping up to 10 guests, this enchanting property has uninterrupted harbour views and is ideally located for enjoying the festivities in Mousehole. Available to book for a New Year's getaway.

3. Penzance

Soak up the party atmosphere in the West Cornwall seaside town of Penzance and join revellers wearing a colourful array of fancy dress attire. Head out to one of the harbourside restaurants, then partake in a bar and pub crawl, where you're sure to stumble across live music and celebrations galore.

We suggest checking out The Admiral Benbow for live DJs and a party atmosphere, or for a more relaxed feel, try 45 Queen Street, a produce-led restaurant, bar and events venue in the heart of the town, where you can enjoy dinner, followed by drinks into the early hours. To carry the celebrations on into 2026, why not head to the Jubilee Pool for a New Year's Day dip?

Our spacious sea-view property, Ednovean House is perfectly placed for large group celebrations on the coast. With sweeping views across Mount's Bay, this luxurious home benefits from being a 10-minute walk from Perranuthnoe Beach and is just a short drive from Penzance. Sleeping up to 14 guests, this wonderful property is available to book for a New Year break.

The South Cornwall harbour town of Falmouth is renowned for coming alive on New Year’s Eve with a street party that flows through the cobbled streets and waterfront. Like St Ives and Newquay, many guests will arrive in their best fancy dress costumes, with the boats and buildings also adorned in festive decorations for the occasion. Soak up the live music throughout the town before watching the fireworks display reflect onto the river from the embankment.

If you’re looking for an organised event, The Greenbank Hotel host an annual New Year’s Eve party. Complete with champagne on arrival, enjoy a seven-course tasting menu created by Head Chef, Bobby Southworth, and beautiful music from Blue Ray Band. Continue the night upstairs at The Riverbank, where you can boogie the night away to the sounds of the resident DJ before the 2026 countdown. The Falmouth Hotel are also hosting a seaside soiree this year, with arrival drinks, a four-course dinner, magician and DJ to keep everyone entertained all evening.

6. Newquay

Immerse yourself in the vibrant character of Newquay’s town centre, as festive music and fancy dress fill the streets and flood local bars, pubs and clubs. Dine at one of Newquay's best restaurants, bars and cafés to start off the evening, then, as you'd expect, fireworks light up the town later on. Released from Newquay Harbour, gather with loved ones for the countdown as the clock nears midnight.

If you’re looking for the "wow" factor, dig out your finest eveningwear for a spectacularly classy night at The Atlantic Hotel. Located in a prime position to watch Newquay Harbour’s fireworks, their themed New Year's evenings are always extravagant.
