The Watermill

Withiel, CornwallSleeps: 4Bedrooms: 2Bathrooms: 1

Home > Our Properties > The Watermill
A blissful Cornish hideaway surrounded by acres of pretty gardens, embrace a slower pace of life at The Watermill.
  • Waterwheel
  • Tennis court
  • Croquet lawn
  • Cosy cottage interiors
  • Elevated decking for al fresco dining
  • 65 acres of countryside

Built in the early 1800s, The Watermill retains all of its original charm and character, with a waterwheel set in the quietly trickling stream that surrounds this period cottage.

Wide, green expanses of lawn and farmland surround the property on the private Whitehay Estate, and there are nearby tennis courts and a croquet lawn for guest use. Wonderfully idyllic, while away long summer days amongst the wild orchards, beehives and stream before tramping along the endless woodland trails.

Stout stone walls with deep inset windows make even the large open spaces of the kitchen and living room feel incredibly cosy and warm. The original stone fireplace has been brought back to life with a wood burner, which casts an atmospheric glow during winter retreats. Just as lovely on summer days, open up the French doors and let the sunshine pour in from the surrounding countryside and spacious decking.

The country-style master bedroom is tucked beneath the eaves upstairs and benefits from a super king size bed. The second bedroom comes with a super king bed which can be set up as twins if needed and looks out across the luscious garden on the ground floor. There’s a spacious bathroom just next door.

Situated within the picturesque Ruthern Valley in North Cornwall, The Watermill is the ideal holiday home for those looking to escape from the fast pace of everyday life and take a moment to recharge. Peace and quiet is in abundance, whilst the popular north coast beaches of Polzeath, Harlyn Bay, Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay are all within a 30 minute drive.

More about theGround Floor

Kitchen and Dining Room

Culinary enthusiasts will love the custom-built kitchen, handmade with beautiful Corian work surfaces, grey slate flagstone flooring and white painted wooden beams. Equipped with a Siemens induction hob and combi oven and microwave, along with a dishwasher and Liebherr fridge-freezer, The Watermill’s country kitchen is well stocked with modern appliances. There’s also a Siemens washing machine and tumble dryer, along with a Nespresso coffee machine. A nearby borehole taps into natural water supplies and provides the cottage with incredibly pure water, which is rich in minerals and free from chemicals.

Please note: guests with pacemakers should avoid using the induction hob as this can interfere with the device.

Bedroom Two

Featuring a super king size zip and link bed, this versatile room can be made up as twins if required. Lay back on the eiderdown duvet and gaze up at the sky through the Velux windows and let time melt away.

Family Bathroom

Just next to the master bedroom, the family bathroom benefits from a Carronite bathtub and large walk-in shower. Marbled ceramic floors exude elegance whilst chalky blue cupboards maintain a shabby chic charm.

More about theFirst Floor

Living Room

A solid pine staircase with an integrated stair gate leads up to the characterful living room. With high vaulted ceilings, original exposed beams and warm red interiors, it’s a cosy space for relaxation. Two enormous sofas are positioned in front of the original stone inglenook fireplace and a traditional Woodwarm cast iron stove will emit a warm glow on chilly evenings.

Watch your favourite box sets on the wall mounted Panasonic flat screen television, complete with Panasonic Superdrive stereo and DVD player. On a warm day, open up the French doors and enjoy a glass of wine on the raised decking as your favourite tunes play through the Bowers & Wilkins docking system.

Master Bedroom

This traditional cottage bedroom sits on the first floor and comes with a super king size bed, double wardrobe and dressing table. Wake early and enjoy your first coffee of the day underneath the skylight window just above the bed. Leading on from the living room through a beautiful original archway, the rooms are separated by a heavy curtain.
